Tips for savvy shopping

There’s a huge amount of psychology involved shopping, and retailers are very shrewd when it comes to ‘encouraging’ shoppers to spend more.

Here are some of our tips to help you get wise to those tricks, and hopefully save some money in the process:

  • Don’t use in-store cafes - it’s a way to get you to stay in the shop as long as possible, passing things you might decide you ‘need’ on the way past!

  • Avoid going into shops ‘just to browse’ - it’s often too tempting! Try to go in only when you actually need to buy something specific.

  • Never buy a big item on the same day you see it - always ‘sleep on it’ and see if you feel the same about it the next day.

  • Try to always check 3 different shops / websites before you buy anything big - not only might you save money by finding the best price, but you might also change your mind by the end of the process
